The practice of pro bono – free of charge – legal aid gains popularity in Russia. What motivates private companies, state and public organizations to provide legal consulting to citizens without pay? What obstacles do they encounter? Which categories of citizens apply for free legal aid most often? What are the most typical issues they bring to the experts? What is the role of the Federal Law On Free Legal Aid in the Russian Federation? These and other issues will be discussed by participants of the panel: prominent legal scholars and practising lawyers. Representatives of the Russian Bar Association will share their unique experience in this sphere regarding the National Pro Bono Legal Aid Day, consulting centres and mobile offices open in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, consulting the inhabitants of rural areas and much else.

The Stadium is Our Common Home project was called Best Social Project of 2015, and in 2016, it was recognized by the professional legal community and won the special Pro Bono nomination of Pravo.ru 300, the annual ranking of Russian legal companies. The project was also endorsed by Vitaly Mutko, president of the Russian Premier League, and was recommended to the 2018 Organizing Committee to be used during the 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup as a 24-hour multi-language legal and information support and concierge service for football fans.
European Legal Service in partnership with All-Russia Business Association Delovaya Rossiya, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and Monocities Development Fund initiated Russian National Legal Dictation project, which should help identify the most challenging issues in legal literacy of Russian citizens and allow the people to check their legal literacy level. The project should result in concrete proposals to state authorities aimed at improving legal literacy of citizens of the Russian Federation. The first stage of the dictation was launched in November 2016.
